The Book Exchange is a fun and meaningful community-building service project run entirely by volunteers who believe in the power of literacy and work to get books free to kids from under-resourced communities.

Currently, we are fully staffed with volunteers to help with field trips. If you are someone who is knowledgeable about children’s books, we can always use help (Wednesdays and Saturday afternoons) with shelving books and helping organize donated books. In addition, if you are someone with skills in the following area (or someone who can move boxes of books :-), please contact us:

  • Social Media (update Instagram, Facebook, any other accounts)
  • Rotary Liaison (Member of Rotary to help interface with clubs throughout Marin)

We may be able to help high school volunteers meet their community service hours. To ensure that we have appropriate tasks, teens are welcome to volunteer on the 1st Saturday of each month only.

Our volunteers collectively put in an average of 100 hours per week. If you are interested in volunteering and would like more information, please email bebookvolunteers@gmail.com.

  • Working open hours (helping customers, receiving book donations).
  • Communication (signage, info sheets, website, social media accounts).
