The Book Exchange of Marin partners with organizations that share our dedication to supporting under-resourced communities throughout our county. These strategic alliances amplify our reach, ensuring more books find their way to the children who need them most. Though our collaborative approaches differ from partner to partner, our core mission remains constant. We’re grateful for these organizations that join us in this vital work.
For example, this past year we:
- Visited 25 Head Start classrooms with approximately 300 children. In addition to a take-home book for each child, we provided 2 -3 three age-appropriate books for each classroom library. The books are selected in conjunction with site staff, so they are age appropriate for infants, toddlers and preschool age. The majority are bi-lingual so English speaking and non-English speaking parents can enjoy reading together and nurture a love of books from an early age.
- At the annual Ritter House back-to-school event, we distributed approximately 140 books to children and families.
- Participated in the annual Día del Libro celebration at Pickleweed Park — sponsored by San Rafael’s Library and Recreation Department — where we gave away approximately 150 books.
- Donated books to the Learning Bus for distribution throughout Marin’s under-resourced communities.
